In a spectacular career spanning five decades The Bee Gees have recorded dozens of chart successes – as well as writing and producing major hits for many other artistes - making them one of the most successful bands of all time.
From Massachusetts to You Win Again, Words to Chain Reaction, the Gibb Brothers have created an unrivalled volume of hit records around the world – recorded not just by themselves but by other legendary performers too including Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
But just what is the greatest Bee Gees song ever?
This one-off special celebrates - and tell the stories behind - some of the best-loved songs in music history as it asks the British public to vote for The Nation’s Favourite Bee Gees Song.
The 90 minute special includes brand new interviews with Robin and Barry Gibb, revealing the fascinating story behind their music which helped to make these giants of the pop world one of the most prolific songwriting outfits of our time.
This insight into the fortunes of the band throughout their incredible career includes rare archive footage of an alternative version of Staying Alive made in 1977 which has never been released, as well as new interviews and contributions from band members and people who helped bring them worldwide success, plus new interviews with celebrity fans including Elton John, Cliff Richard, Beverley Knight, Sharleen Spiteri, Sir Tim Rice and Dave Grohl.
This unique programme charts the Bee Gees’ hits in the late 60’s through to the phenomenal disco crossover success of Saturday Night Fever which brought the band further international stardom and chart domination. After a brief hiatus they returned and reinvented themselves again with number one hits that included You Win Again, beginning another phase of Bee Gees’ history where their singles and albums topped the charts worldwide.
The final list of 20 classics has been compiled with the help of a panel of Bee Gees experts and includes Chain Reaction, Guilty, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, How Deep Is Your Love, Immortality, I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You, Islands In The Stream, Jive Talkin’, Massachusetts, More Than A Woman, Night Fever, Nights On Broadway, Run To Me, Stayin’ Alive, To Love Somebody, Too Much Heaven, Tragedy, Words, You Should Be Dancing and  You Win Again
The public decided the final countdown of the Bee Gees top 20 by voting on ITV.com’s Bee Gees mini-site last month.
